Djibouti is the venue from Monday June 12 for the 14th Ordinary Assembly of Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Heads of State and Government, the first ever summit since 2019. The summit will bring leaders and officials of various countries namely Kenya, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, and Sudan. The meeting is also expected to review the progress of the peace process in South Sudan. Prior to the Djibouti meeting, members of the regional organization signed last year in Khartoum – Sudan, an agreement on the free movement of people. The last regional IGAD Summit was held on 29 November 2019 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
