The Te Aitarakihi Trust and Multicultural Aoraki's family day was held on Saturday to commemorate Waitangi Day. Waitangi Day in Timaru saw a celebration of Māori, Filipino, Indian, and the range of other cultures which make up South Canterbury. Between 500 and 600 people stopped by the Te Aitarakihi Multicultural Centre on Saturday for Waitangi Whānau Fun Day, close to double the number who attended the inaugural event a year before.
