RCMP in Whitehorse say a man was taken into custody Tuesday morning in the Arkell neighbourhood, after police had spent hours trying to make contact with him. More than a dozen officers were seen in the area of Loon Road and Sandpiper Drive on Tuesday morning. In a news release, police say they received a call early Monday evening, about a "distraught" man inside a residence, who may be a danger to himself. Police say the man finally exited the home on Loon Road just before 11 a.m., and was taken into custody without incident, under the Mental Health Act. The two nearby schools resumed normal activity soon after.
