'Dismal' November keeps Blenheim behind in sunshine stakes


A wet and gloomy November may have put paid to Blenheim's chances of reclaiming the national sunshine title. A sparkling October, when Blenheim's 224.8 hours of sunshine made it the sunniest spot in the country for the month, put it just three hours behind Whakatāne in total sunshine hours for the year and 24 hours behind Richmond. Up until 9am on Wednesday morning, Blenheim had only 145 hours of sunshine in November, compared to the long term monthly average of 241 hours.
