Laguna, officially known as the Province of Laguna (Provincia de Laguna) is a province in the Philippines, located in the Calabarzon region in Luzon. Laguna lies on the southern shores of Laguna de Bay, the largest lake in the country. Laguna is also home to the Laguna Volcanic Field, which can be found near San Pablo. The Laguna Volcanic Field is composed of over 200 dormant and monogenetic maars, crater lakes, scoria cones and stratovolcanoes, the tallest of which is Mount Makiling. Laguna boasts a healthy economy as it is labeled “the Detroit of the Philippines” because of the presence of major vehicle manufacturers in the city of Santa Rosa.
