more-inA Tamil Nadu Disaster Response Force (TNDRF) will be formed with 1,000 police personnel to tackle emergencies during the north-east monsoon, Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management R.B. Nearly ₹14.59 crore would be provided for purchase of equipment under the State Disaster Response Fund and TNDRF would work in coordination with NDRF. Training programmes have been conducted in coordination with police and Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services, he said. This year, a fund of ₹750 crore had been allocated towards capacity building, procurement of equipment and relief measures, Mr. Udayakumar added. Besides steps to deal with emergencies during ensuing monsoon, measures have been taken to ensure normalcy in daily life by asking oil marketing companies to stock adequate fuel during disasters.
