Andrew Scheer, their party’s leader, watched with his wife Jill and their five children at their Regina home. Preliminary returns suggested the Conservatives would spend the night playing catch-up, and the chances of Scheer becoming Canada’s next prime minister slipping away. But on Sunday, Scheer said he believed the Conservatives had run a positive, hopeful campaign. The acrimonious campaign run by the main two parties does not appear to have sit well with voters. The biggest cheers of the night, however, came when Scheer himself was projected to win his riding of Regina-Qu’Appelle.
