BANGKO Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin Diokno encouraged on Wednesday the use of the Government e-Payments (EGov Pay) Facility to ensure a safe and reliable national payments amid Coronavirus 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic. Diokno also said that the use of online payments and QR code scanning should be adopted for easy government transactions. On Dec. 9, 2015, BSP and industry stakeholders officially launched the National Retail Payment System (NRPS) for a new payment system in the country. “Through the NRPS, the BSP endeavors to create a safe, reliable, affordable, interoperable and efficient retail payment system in the country,” he said. Diokno said the government has two electronic payment systems; pesonet which started on May 31, 2020 with 58 participating institutions, and instapay with 48 participating institutions.
