Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, has stepped down for the National Leader and presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu. “Because I like to grow old, I hereby withdraw for my elder, Tinubu,” he said. Earlier, Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi; former Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun; and Senator Godswill Akpabio stepped down for Tinubu. The Nigerian leader has spent the days leading up to the convention in negotiations with the APC’s leaders seeking unity over a party candidate. “The fate of the party depends on what we do here,” APC party chairman Abdullahi Adamu said, echoing Buhari’s call for unity in the ranks.
