KUALA LUMPUR: Digitalisation and enforcement are two key issues that must be addressed to enhance the accountancy profession’s effectiveness, relevance and sustainability. Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) president Salihin Abang said as accountancy is becoming increasingly cloud-based and empowered by Big Data, the processes are becoming more efficient and mobile. "Today, the celebration of MIA’s 50th anniversary is centered around the core values of integrity, accountability and trust, which lay the foundation of the accountancy profession. MIA also held the Mount Kinabalu expedition from Sept 24 -26 and 50th anniversary commemorative lectures by renowned local speakers. At the event, Sultan Nazrin also presented the Presidential Merit Award to eight MIA past presidents.
