Law Minister Anisul Huq made the statement at a press conference at the secretariat on Wednesday, following a meeting with US Ambassador Marcia Bernicat. The government is set to draft a digital security law that incorporates the ICT law. “The new digital security act will address the concerns raised about the current ICT law,” Huq said. “Concerns about freedom of expression will be addressed.”“The government has never meant to take away freedom of expression and has no desire to do so,” he said. The ICT law was being used against freedom of expression, said the rights group.
