A Digital Door Numbering (DDN) is being worked out making use of the satellite imagery and taking up a ground survey of the properties to map not only the properties, but also roads and by-lanes, vacant plots, slums and so on, which have not been captured by the satellite. The proposed new 10 digit door number will give details of the door number, street, building and floor,” officials said, pleading anonymity. DDN would help in establishing a uniform address system in a standard format for all properties across the ULBs using the latest geo-spatial and cloud computing technology. Currently, authorities are debating implementing it throughout the State for DDNs to come into vogue within the next three months. If everything goes to plan, DDN would be provided for every door.
