Thiago and Jota have impressed Hamann (Picture: Getty)Dietmar Hamann has been impressed with the starts made by Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota and thinks they will prove to be excellent signings for Liverpool. Hamann, the former Liverpool midfielder, admitted that he didn’t feel Thiago was a necessary signing despite the lack of creativity in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield – largely due to the attacking talent among the wing-backs and front line. But he believes Thiago adds a new ‘dimension’ to the squad and can carve out chances from the centre of the park like no other current Liverpool midfielder can. ‘With Thiago they’ve got a player who especially when you play against deep, sitting teams he can open defences up a bit similar to Coutinho when he was there. ‘He’s scored some very important goals and I think he’s a player who can come in when something happens to the front three,’ added Hamann.
