A diesel-carrying tanker exploded on the N3 freeway near Peacevale, Durban, on Thursday. Footage of the blaze shows thick plumes of black smoke rising from the tanker, followed by an explosion. Road Traffic Information spokesperson Sindi KaNgidi Msimang told News24 the incident happened just before 10:00. "The moment the truck caught fire, he pulled [the truck] over and escaped," said KaNgidi Msimang. However, KaNgidi Msimang said by midday, the road was re-opened.
