They'd spotted what to them seemed like a mystical creature, only viewed in the southern hemisphere on TV - it was a simple little robin. The bird was delighted by their interest and seemed to dance a jig from branch to bucket to garden fork! And the little robin is, of course, one of the special symbols of the festive season. Christian folklore tells the tale of how a little robin flew to comfort a dying Jesus. A thorn from Jesus's crown pierced the robin and hence his distinctive orange-red face, throat and breast.
