Some pregnant women are at risk of getting gestational diabetes mellitus during pregnancy. Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society secretary and Hospital Putrajaya consultant endocrinologist Dr Nurain Mohd Noor says gestational diabetes mellitus during pregnancy has serious implications to both the mother and her baby. “A woman with family history of diabetes type 2 is at risk too,” she says.
