Bangladesh on Thursday urged the international community to remain vocal in demanding justice for the victims of atrocities in Rakhine State of Myanmar. The seminar, titled “Improving International Migration Regimes,” was organized by the Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of Erasmus University at its campus. Underlining the necessity for governance of international migration, Shahidul Haque suggested a hybrid global migration governance system, if not a legally-binding convention on migration governance. The foreign secretary also responded to questions on issues such as climate change induced migration, skilled versus general migration, businesses’ needs, and the role of migration. Members of The Hague-based diplomatic corps, international organisations, academia, students, business representatives, local and international media representatives, and expatriate community members were in attendance, among others.
