Dhaka University students demand expulsion of calculator thugs

A section of Dhaka University students on Sunday demanded permanent expulsion of Chhatra League activists who brutally roughed up Ehsan Rafiq, a second year student of disaster management and science department on Tuesday night for demanding his calculator back. Addressing the human chain, demonstrators alleged that the ruling Awami League’s student front Bangladesh Chhatra League had established a reign of terror at different dormitories of the university. Slamming the university administration for their failure to ensure security of ordinary students, demonstrators alleged that the “backbone-less” administration had become a protector of the culprits. Demanding permanent expulsion of the Chhatra League assailants, they also warned of tougher movements if the administration failed to meet their demands. On Tuesday night, Chhatra League activists of Salimullah Muslim hall beat up Ehsan Rafiq, leaving him unable to see with his right eye.
