The proposal will soon be sent to the Road Transport and Bridges Ministry, and the Finance Division for clearance. The Road Transport and Highways Division formed a committee in January to propose the toll rate for the new highway. Trailers and trucks will pay more than the base rate, while buses, mini-buses, microbuses, private cars, and motorcycles will pay less than the base rate. The committee set the rate by reviewing and adjusting the rates of three toll bridges located between the Dhaka, Mawa, and Panchchor areas. The toll rate for the country’s longest bridge, over the Padma river, was not discussed as it has not been completed yet.
