The New Jersey Devils signed 20-year center Nico Hischier to a seven-year, $50.75 million contract extension on Friday. The first overall selection of the 2017 draft was pleased with the deal that runs through the 2026-27 season. “We have a young, exciting team, and I am driven to try my best to help the team succeed every day. The Swiss-born Hischier has 101 points (37 goals, 64 assists) in 157 career NHL games. “Nico is a special person who possesses a team-first mentality combined with an inner drive to succeed,” Devils general manager Ray Shero said.
