MIRI: Developers must ensure construction work does not cause flooding in nearby areas. Assistant Tourism Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin urged developers and consultants to look into the drainage system before proceeding with any project. “I would like to seek consultants and developers working together to prevent flooding at areas being developed,” said Lee during a meeting at Miri City Council on flooding at Ecopark, Taman Tunku and SK Tukau here. He said a technical committee headed by Drainage and Irrigation Department director Chok Moi Soo will come up with a masterplan for the area’s drainage system. It was revealed that Miri received exceptionally high rainfall of 161mm on Sunday, which was localised in the three areas.
