Police and firefighter/paramedics from Des Plaines responded about 5:07 a.m. Sunday, May 29, 2022 to multiple reports of a detached garage and a vehicle fire in the block of 2300 Scott Street in Des Plaines. Firefighters on arrival discovered a detached fully-involved garage with fire extending to a garage in the backyard on a property on Cedar Street. The fire in the original detached garage destroyed the garage, and caused damage ranging from significant to minor in six other garages and homes in the neighborhood. Firefighters from Park Ridge and Rosemont assisted Des Plaines firefighters. Firefighters from Arlington Heights, Morton Grove and Northbrook were assigned to stand by in Des Plaines fire stations.
