Despite poor weather, more than 100,000 estimated to have attended Beach Hop 2018JAKE MCKEE CAGNEY/STUFF Sharon Morris (right) from Orewa drove her 1959 Cadillac in the grand parade with her friend Alanna Pleasants. A rainy forecast was not enough to scare away an estimated 100,000 people for Beach Hop 2018. Beach Hop crew member Andrea Ross said it was fantastic to see so many people come out for the event. The proceeds from Beach Hop go towards services in the Coromandel such as surf lifesaving clubs, emergency services and schools. A range of shows were put on for Beach Hop attendees, including music, comedy, car shows, a quiz night, and a beach party.
