Despite Friday's Sharp Rebound, Major Averages Have Negative Weekly Charts


The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, Nasdaq Composite, Dow Jones Transportation Average and Russell 2000 ended last week below their semiannual pivots at 27,266, 2,955.6, 7,999, 10,720 and 1,572.85, respectively. The Dow, S&P and Nasdaq are above their annual pivots at 25,819, 2,867.1 S&P and 7,370 Nasdaq. The Dow, S&P, Nasdaq, Transports and Russell 2000 have negative weekly charts as Friday’s closes were below their five-week modified moving averages at 26,660, 2,955.5, 8,015, 10,294 and 1,524.19, respectively. The S&P 500 (2,952.01 on October 4) is up 25.8% from its December 26 intraday low of 2,346.58 and set its all-time intraday high of 3,027.98 on July 26. The Nasdaq Composite (7,982.47 on October 4) is up 29% from its December 24 intraday low of 6,190.17 and set its all-time intraday high of 8,339.64 on July 26.
