Even as factions within the ruling Jubilee party trade barbs over Deputy President William Ruto’s candidacy for the 2022 presidential race on the party’s ticket, the DP is adamant that the ticket is an open contest to any suitable candidate. Mr Ruto’s remarks come on the back of utterances by former Jubilee Party vice chairman David Murathe that the Deputy President is not guaranteed of being the party’s flag bearer in 2022. Ruto has however stated on multiple occasions, with last week being the latest, that he is not interested in an endorsement from anybody.
