Last November, Mr. de Blasio’s first deputy mayor, Anthony E. Shorris, announced he was leaving the No. Mr. de Blasio, who does not regularly meet with many city commissioners, has described his approach to management as a “deputy mayor model” and in that, Ms. Glen was the longest serving and most prominent. Along the way, Ms. Glen, who lives in the same Upper West Side zipcode where she grew up, developed a reputation for making frank and occasionally unguarded comments.
