Ms. Raffel previously held senior positions at the Queensland Art Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane, Australia. The Sri Lankan-born Ms. Raffel, who is both deputy director and director of collections at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney, will begin a five-year contract in November.
