Wakaso, whose contract expires in the summer has failed to agree on a new deal that will keep him at the club for a longer time. The 29-year-old has been one of the best players at the club since joining them on a three-year deal from Greek side Panathinaikos. He has featured in 26 games for Alavés in the Spanish La Liga this term and has been rated as one of the best midfielders in the league alongside his compatriot Thomas Partey. Despite the club's sporting director Sergio Fernández willing to keep him at the club for a long time, the decision to sell him would benefit both parties.
