THE Department of Education (DepEd) warned the public against the alleged illegal sale of learning modules and materials online. Education Undersecretary Alain Del Pascua issued the warning amid reports that “free learning materials (LMs)” from DepEd were being “shamelessly sold” on the Web. Meanwhile, Pasuca also warned teachers and the public to be wary of educational materials being peddled for sale as “authorized” or “official” DepEd MELCs, Workbooks or Worksheets, and DepEd Commons materials. Pascua likewise warned of groups and individuals charging fees for supposedly free webinars conducted by DepEd, through its Educational Technology Unit (EdTech Unit). DepEd employees, either teaching or non-teaching, face administrative or criminal cases if caught selling learning materials and charging fees for free materials and trainings, he said.
