There will be no final examinations for students in public schools where classes are suspended because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). This year’s academic calendar schedules quarterly exams for Grades 6 and 12 on March 12 to 13. Instead of exams, the class standing of students will the basis in computing their final grades. Teachers will also not be required to report to schools unless ordered by the schools division superintendent. The schools, in consultation with the Parents-Teachers Association, can reschedule or forego the rites “should the public health situation prevent the holding of the rites within the said period.”The Education department said private schools were “highly encouraged” to follow the new guidelines.
