DepEd says no order to close down schools for indigenous peoples 26 SHARES Share it! Share TweetBy Merlina MalipotThe Department of Education (DepEd) confirmed that there was no order to close down any school catering to learners from indigenous peoples (IPs). Issuing a statement on the alleged order to close a Salugpongan learning center, DepEd — through DepEd Region XI — clarified that it “did not order” the closure of any school serving IP learners. DepEd also noted that the same is enshrined in DepEd Order No. 21 (DO 21), series 2014, or the Guidelines on the Recognition of Private Learning Institutions Serving Indigenous Peoples Learners.
