Share TweetBy Jhon Aldrin CasinasThe Department of Education (DepEd) on Sunday reaffirmed its commitment to ensure the safety and well-being of teachers, and to maintain schools as “zones of peace” following the recent attack to two elementary teachers in Valencia, Bukidnon. “Sa ngayon nakapagbigay na po tayo nang financial assistance [sa mga biktima] (We have already gave financial assistance to the victims). The victims, Escobarte assured, will be entitled to a “rehabilitation leave” with pay, on top of their statutory benefits from the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and PhilHealth. “DepEd sternly enjoins the community, local officials, and law enforcement agencies to work closely in ensuring the safety of schools, learners, and teachers,” it added.
