Already proved the worst month given the ongoing dengue menace in the country, July saw the 2,00th death from the mosquito-borne illness on Sunday while witnessing a sevenfold surge in cases in a month. A total of 9,418 dengue patients, including 5,147 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country. So far, the DGHS has recorded 49,138 dengue cases and 39,473 recoveries this year. The country logged 281 dengue deaths in 2022 – the highest on record after 179 deaths recorded in 2019. Sevenfold rise in casesThere were 5,956 dengue patients in June and after Sunday's count, the number of dengue cases now stands at 41,160 this month.
