Eleven more deaths were reported from dengue in 24 hours till Saturday morning, of them eight from Dhaka. Meanwhile, a total of 2,327 patients got admitted during the same period across the country, including 920 from Dhaka. Of the hospitalised patients, the number of death toll is so far estimated around 0.5 per cent, according to the report. Meanwhile, the total dengue cases rose to 114,511, including 54,409 from Dhaka. A pre-monsoon government-funded survey of Dhaka city has uncovered an alarming surge of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, known carriers of the dengue virus, fuelling the worst spread of the disease over the past five years.
