China today said it would like to strengthen cooperation with India to make a common effort to fight "the cancer of corruption", in the wake of the demonetisation move. On the demonetisation measure, the Chinese Foreign Ministry told India Today that its embassy in Delhi had reminded its citizens in India to pay attention to the new measures to protect "their legitimate rights and interests". India and China are looking to set up a joint working group on fake currency. Both sides discussed the problem of fake currency during the visit, including Hong Kong's emergence as a key gateway for funneling Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) into India.
