DES MOINES, Iowa—In hotel bars, at campaign events and on television screens across this state, it is peak season for the expectations game. Iowa voters will finally speak Monday at their caucuses that open the Democratic presidential nominating process. Until then, however, the campaigns are working hard to manage expectations for how well they need to perform to claim success.
