Later in the hearing, lawyers representing Facebook, Google and Twitter said they became aware of Russian interference as early as 2015, while Google’s general counsel said the company became aware of meddling in January. “Our claims were frankly blown off by your companies,” Warner said on Wednesday, characterizing the companies’ response as “Nothing like this happened. (Facebook previously disclosed that 470 Russian-linked accounts spread 3,000 advertisements on the social network, reaching 10 million people.)
