SUPPLIED Alzheimers NZ chief executive Catherine Hall says she is not surprised by the increasing death rate of dementia. "The health system is letting down the people living with dementia," Hall said. The Government had made the improvement of dementia services a priority under the next phase of the Healthy Ageing Strategy, she said. "The Ministry of Health has recently asked DHBs to undertake a stocktake of their dementia services to better identify the current status of these services against the NZ Framework for Dementia Care.
