The House on Thursday voted to table a Republican-led resolution to condemn House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., for ripping up a copy of President Trump’s State of the Union address earlier this week. The resolution called the speaker's public shredding of the address “a breach of decorum” and said it brought “discredit on the House.”Pelosi’s action on Tuesday evening stole much of the spotlight from Trump’s State of the Union address. Pelosi’s action led to widespread Republican condemnation that spilled over onto the House floor when Granger introduced the privileged resolution. The State of the Union has for the last two years been a tense affair between Pelosi and Trump. The New York Times wrote a story about the applause with the headline: “As Pelosi Applauds Trump, the Internet Sees a Clapback."
