Traffic congestion in peak tourist season this year has literally choked Nainital , leading to frayed tempers and fuming residents. It can sometimes take 5-6 hours to reach Nainital from Haldwani, a distance which can usually be covered within 1-2 hours.The situation is no better in Mussoorie. Last month, the Uttarak hand high court taking a strict stand on the traffic congestion in Nainital, had banned entry of mini buses and heavy vehicles. Sources said that the ban had helped ease the situation somewhat but now, the town continued to grapple with the onslaught of cars and other private vehicles used by tourists. "We had to extend our school's summer va cations by four days due to the huge amount of traffic congestion in the town.
