This is the first time that the NGT or any court issued directions for emergency situations. In emergency situations, stone crushers should be directed to shut down. In emergency situations, all construction and demolition activities and transportation of construction material should be halted temporarily. NGT has ordered constitution of an interstate Central committee and also state committees to enforce their orders on vehicular pollution, dust pollution, solid waste burning and paddy straw burning. The Central committee has to prepare an action plan for environmental emergency as well as prevention and control of pollution.
