Delhi heatwave: Palam 47 degree Celsius: Delhi's hottest day in 2 years


NEW DELHI: Hot loo winds sweeping in from Rajasthan scorched the capital on Sunday, sending the mercury shooting up to a blistering 47 degrees Celsius at Palam. The city's main weather station , Safdarjung, touched 44.6 degrees, making it the hottest day in Delhi since May 2015.The last time June temperatures touched 47 degrees at Palam was three years ago (47.8 degrees on June 9). It was 46.6 degrees C at Ayanagar, 46.2 at Delhi Ridge and 44.6 in Gurgaon. As usual, private weather apps displayed much higher temperatures, with some showing 48 degrees C in Noida. Thunderstorm activity may start on Tuesday evening, followed by squally winds and some more rain on Wednesday and Thursday.
