Under attack from the opposition for being “anti-Dalit”, the Delhi BJP unit, along with the party’s national leaders, organised an event Saturday at JLN Stadium to garner support from the Scheduled Castes. Titled, ‘Anusuchit Jati Yuva Sammelan’, the event saw the party lay claim to Dr B R Ambedkar’s legacy. He ensured that India’s culture will flourish,” said New Delhi MP and BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi. “Ambedkar is the leader of women more than of the SCs, as women are more downtrodden even in the SC community,” said the MP. If not for Mookerjee’s support, Ambedkar would have missed his chance to be in Parliament, he said.
