Traffic management across the Shotover Bridge has been introduced to ease congestion during the last week of construction works. Queenstown Lakes District Council programme director Gareth Noble yesterday acknowledged that traffic had "backed up" in recent days, causing significant delays and queues. This has now been removed and as a result traffic flow is improved." Work at the site began in February 2020 replacing about 320m of wastewater pipe and installing new water supply pipe along the downstream side of the Shotover Bridge. He confirmed permanent traffic management was set to end within the coming week as the project moved to a new phase.
