Two months on from the cyberattack on the HSE and the consequences for patients are only starting to emerge, health professionals have warned. Vice-president of the Irish Hospital Consultants Association, Professor Rob Landers, said the IHCA has specific concerns around delayed cancer diagnoses. “The worry is that there are several in that (backlog) who have cancer and nobody really suspects yet. They could face a delay of eight, 10, 12 weeks in getting their diagnosis. He said there is a large backlog of tissue samples sent to histopathology laboratories to be checked for potential cancers.
