When Defy Partners founder Neil Sequeira was ready to expand the early-stage firm’s seed investing and incubator strategies, he didn’t have to look far to find the leadership team. Saeid officially joined the Defy team in February, and will soon focus on building out the firm’s existing “hatch and creation” strategy. McIlwain, an associate at the firm since early 2020, was also promoted to partner, to help build out the firm’s seed investing strategy. Defy also adds Bryan Goldberg, founder and CEO of Bustle Digital Group, who has helmed the online publishing company for eight years.
