Buenos Aires Herald editorialPresident Javier Milei went viral again this week for one of his traditional rants against the state. In a country with crushing inflation and a poverty rate of over 50%, withdrawing the state from the task of assisting those most in need is tantamount to letting them starve. Under normal circumstances, the state would coordinate the delivery with social organizations tasked with distributing the food to soup kitchens. This has forced the Milei administration to resort to other forces to deliver the food. In its bid to slash state spending, the government froze public works and thus cut short the completion of the Néstor Kirchner pipeline.
