Taranaki premier one-day champions New Plymouth Marist United appear to have gathered a squad well capable of defending their title. New players include former New Plymouth Boys' High School opening batsman Archie Skipworth and allrounder Luke Tuckett who returns after a season off. Former Taranaki rep Trent McGrath is missing from the Hawera United squad after shifting to Palmerston North while Mathew Pease and veteran bowler Steve Batchelor are unavailable. Three-time defending two-day champions New Plymouth Old Boys have a largely settled squad that will be led again by Taranaki captain Mattie Thomas.
