A 4.4-magnitude quake has struck near White Island but experts say the shake is unlikely to cause issues with the volcano. The quake, which was revised down from a 4.8-magnitude, struck 50 kilometres west of White Island at 8.43am on Wednesday. It would have to be quite a bit shallower to interfere with the source of White Island's volcanic activity.
