Deep depression forms over Bay of Bengal


Indian weather agency predicts that the cyclonic storm may develop into a severe cycloneThe depression over southwest Bay of Bengal and its adjacent areas has intensified into a deep depression. According to a special weather bulletin issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, or BMD, the deep depression was located 2,025km south-southwest of Chattogram seaport, 1,960km south-southwest of Cox’s Bazar seaport, 1,940km south-southwest of Mongla seaport, and 1,925km south-southwest of Payra seaport on Tuesday afternoon. With sustained winds of up to 50 kmph, and gusts reaching 60 kmph, the deep depression is expected to move west-northwestward and gather strength, according to meteorologists. Fishing vessels and trawlers operating in the northern Bay of Bengal and adjacent deep-sea areas have been advised to navigate cautiously and remain near the coast until further notice. In addition, nighttime temperatures may drop slightly across Bangladesh, and daytime temperatures may remain unchanged.
